It works with Adaptive Cruise Control to maintain the speed you select and adjust depending on traffic conditions.
Do I still have to pay attention to the road if Super Cruise is driving for me?The short answer is yes, you still need to pay attention to what’s going on around you on the road. Super Cruise is meant to be a driver-assistance technology. It can’t detect road hazards, construction zones, or other potential safety situations. Plus, it can’t detect whether the driver is inattentive, asleep, or otherwise impaired. Even with the help of Super Cruise, it’s important to stay alert behind the wheel.
How often does the map information update?Super Cruise updates periodically through your vehicle’s OnStar system. Because the technology depends on the latest accurate road information, there is a failsafe in place that makes Super Cruise unavailable for use if the mapping data hasn’t been updated within the past seven months. Then you’ll need to drive your vehicle long enough to complete the update for the service to automatically function again.
How does Super Cruise know how fast to go?By working with Adaptive Cruise Control, Super Cruise will set the speed you want to travel at. Additionally, if ACC hasn’t been set when you turn on Super Cruise, the function will maintain the speed you’re traveling when you turn it on. Super Cruise will adjust to the speed of traffic in front of you going in the same direction, and it will also slow down on curves.
